This website provides information about the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons (Bureau) Environmental Impact Statement for the Proposed United States Penitentiary (USP) and Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Letcher County, Kentucky, along with opportunities for public involvement.

What's New?

The Bureau has prepared the March 2017 Draft Supplemental Revised Final Environmental Impact Statement (RFEIS) for the Proposed USP and FPC in Letcher County, Kentucky. The Bureau is publishing a Draft Supplemental RFEIS because after publication of the 2016 RFEIS, the Bureau removed two parcels of land from acquisition consideration, resulting in a reduced site size and modification of the facilities layout previously evaluated in the 2016 RFEIS. Review the Environmental Impact Statement page for additional details on the Draft Supplemental RFEIS.
